History[]
Background[]
Adam Lockwood was a Miami district attorney. At some point, he met and became romantically involved with Rita Secada, a law enforcement official who was promoted to Captain of the Advanced Metro Miami Operations (AMMO), an elite task force with Miami PD based in Miami.
During his career, he came to believe that the American government was omitting its domestic problems, mainly drugs being smuggled into the country, due to the government turning much of its focus on international operations after the 9/11 attacks. Therefore, he began to collaborate with James McGrath, a former Army Ranger who had been secretly working for cartels while working for the DEA. In exchange for working for the cartels to secure the U.S. border, they provided intel about potential terrorist activities. During his collaboration, many police officers and informants were killed. Sensing something MPD Captain Conrad Howard decided to investigate, gaining substantial evidence. However, he would be assassinated under the orders of Isabel Aretas, an associate of McGrath and the widow of drug lord Benito Aretas.
Present Day[]
Shortly after beginning to date Rita, who is Mike Lowrey's ex-girlfriend, both attended Mike's wedding with his physical therapist Christine. Meanwhile, at the wedding party, Marcus Burnett suffered a heart attack due to his unhealthy eating disorder. Two weeks later, it was announced that Captain Howard was involved with the cartels, which the FBI is investigating about. Determined to prove Howard's innocence, Mike and Marcus decided to investigate Howard's old case involving the conspiracy. Then he appeared when Mike requested that they should transport Armando Aretas, who is Mike’s illegitimate son and the one who knows about the ones involved with the Cartels, which Lockwood agreed. In secret, Lockwood was conspiring with McGrath and his team and revealed the shipment of Armando, which caused the helicopter crash and framing Mike, Marcus and Armando as fugitives with Law Enforcement and criminals hunting them down.
When Armando recognized McGrath and identified him as the real culprit behind Howard's murder, Mike called Rita to inform of the situation, which Lockwood eavesdropped upon her. Lockwood then tipped off McGrath and the latter sent mercenaries to capture Mike and Marcus' families, which the latter family was saved by Reggie. Christine and to an extent Callie, Howard's granddaughter were captured by McGrath. Mike then realized that Lockwood is the mole and warned Rita about it. Lockwood then revealed his true colors and almost killed Rita before being saved by Kelly. Lockwood then revealed to Rita the reason for his actions and collaboration with McGrath and the Cartels, all the while AMMO was recording his voice to call McGrath.
Using Lockwood as bait, the team engages in a fierce gunfight with McGrath's men at a former alligator-themed amusement park. Lockwood tried to escape by threatening the pilot via gunpoint, which Rita shut down the plane by a rocket launcher. Both Lockwood and the pilot survived. Dorn went to check on Lockwood, only for him to shoot at the former in the elbow. Rita then kicked Lockwood to a alligator pit, where he was devoured by Duke, the albino alligator.
Trivia[]
- Lockwood is the first villain of the franchise to have any political power (not including James McGrath or Eddie Dominguez, who were in law enforcement).
- It's unknown if Lockwood, like McGrath, allied himself with Isabel Aretas at any point, but it is possible due to the assassination of Captain Conrad Howard.
- Lockwood is one of five antagonists who weren’t killed by gunshots, but was still killed by something else (Carlos was killed after a gun hit a land mine next to him and the explosion reached him in order to send him flying, Booker Grassie, a minor character from Bad Boys for Life who was impaled by a forklift while trying to escape his own attempted assassination, Manny the Butcher, was run over by Marcus and then had a Molotov thrown at him, and Lintz, who was sliced up by propeller blades from the same plane Lockwood tried to escape in).
